Niykee is still writing songs, even though she has been caught up in the current chaos. Her selection was made to be part of the YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. As a producer magnet, Niykee is constantly looking through the many beats that are being sent to her. She finds that most of them spark new music ideas. She claims that she is able to tell if the beat is great in only 5 minutes. After that, a fresh song may pop up in her head. I sit on my back porch with my guitar, and then the lyrics just come and usually it's finished in just thirty minutes. The pain of Niykee's childhood is a constant source of inspiration as she develops as a writer. Even when she's not composing about things that are actually happening, all of her pain through her childhood and grief over the loss of her daughter finds its way into the music. It influences my music and provides it with a deeper significance, something I consider crucial. I would like to be able listen to my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of the things I've written.
